One of our Members had a situation, when a representative called on her selling advertising cards to go up in the local leisure centres. They said that the local District Council had checked out his company and that she could have prime spots on the board to run for a year.
The Member was shown his card signed by the District Council to say that he was a bone fide salesperson. It required that the money be paid up front and they (the advertisers) were going to get in touch to arrange artwork.
The Member was very busy at the time and rang about five weeks later to see what was happening. There was no reply...
You certainly need to read the small print first before putting your signature to anything!
