Categories of Membership within the IFPA

Full Member

Any individual who has satisfactorily completed training in aromatherapy on a course registered with the Federation, or training consistent with the standards set by the Federation.

For graduates of non-registered or non-compatible courses an assessment is required, after which additional training may or may not be recommended..

A Full member can use the letters MIFPA after their name and have their name in the IFPA Register of Aromatherapists.

Associate Member:

Associate Member: Those individuals who practice aromatherapy, having completed a course of study not registered with the Federation, and who are completing the additional training necessary for full membership. Such additional training to be completed within two years. The names of Associate Members will not appear on the membersı register.

An Associate member is not permitted to use the IFPA letters after their name.

Student

Student Member: Any person currently taking an aromatherapy training course registered by the Federation. Such training should be completed within three years, although Council shall have the discretion to extend this period on a case by case basis.

A Student member is not permitted to use the IFPA letters after their name.

Non-Practising:

Non-Practising Membership is open to all ‘Full’ Members of the IFPA who are no longer in practice.

There is no requirement for insurance, First Aid qualification, or CPD fulfillment, unless the non-practising member wishes to return to practice and to full membership.  In that case, all the practice requirements will once again become mandatory.

Friend

Friends: Any member of the public who has an interest in the work of the Federation in particular and in aromatherapy in general.

A Friend member is not permitted to use the IFPA letters after their name.

Fellow

Fellow: Conferred on individuals in recognition of their exceptional work in the field of holistic clinical aromatherapy. Only fellows who are full members of the society may have voting rights. Fellows may use the letters FIFPA. Council shall reserve the right to withdraw the Fellowship under exceptional circumstances.

A Fellow member can use the FIFPA letters after their name

Honorary

Conferred on individuals distinguished in their own field who have demonstrated support for the Federation and its principles, and for aromatherapy in general. Council shall reserve the right to withdraw Honorary Membership under exceptional circumstances.

Affiliated Organisation:

Council may extend an invitation to apply to aromatherapy organisations, both national and international, that share the Federationıs approach to the profession of aromatherapy
