Avocado – Latex : Cross reaction
We have received a report of a rare case of cross-sensitisation to avocado fruit from a latex allergy sufferer. It is not known whether avocado oil could have the same effect, but we think it is prudent for practitioners not to use avocado oil on clients with a known latex allergy until further information is available. If any members come across any examples of this or similar allergic reactions which may have safety implications for aromatherapy practice please let us know.
